In Love Always

by Pastor Dale Saito

Book

Jesus threatened to spit out the church in Laodicea for it was neither hot nor cold. Their fire for Jesus was smoldering. They were no longer a cool refreshing spring for lost sojourners. The church in Laodicea had become uselessly lukewarm. The early church had been infiltrated by demonic forces. The Laodiceans had turned towards the ways of the world.

The American Church has also been infiltrated. Today, we face a similar condition because we too have turned towards the ways of the world. Many are in denial that the infiltration exists. Others simply don’t know where to look, or what to do about it.

Jesus offered hope to the Laodiceans. His letter to the church in Laodicea was a plea to repent. Today, He offers us that same hope. But that hope comes with the same plea, we must be earnest and repent.

To repent we must first understand and then accept that the path we took may have been the wrong one. In this book, we will examine actions taken by the Church that contributed to our condition, and explore the actions we can take to reclaim the victory He promises.

Whether you are a pastor, council/board member, elder, ministry lay leader, or dream to one day lead, this book will challenge how you think of and lead your church.

Dale, I really enjoyed your honest and fresh take on how the institutional church is run and the perspective you provided as someone who examines business operations for fraudulent practices. You have not only been insightful, but you have been kind as nearly four decades in the church has proved that not only has the institutional church become more of a business than the Body of Christ, but it’s often a poorly run business. Your advice about ratios and finding a way to measure effectiveness with the real mission of the church–worship, discipleship and witness–has inspired me to find a better way to measure what really matters. Thank you!

A well-written, concise, and insightful read about what is driving the “church” – a homonym, as detailed in the book, to mean both the local, home church and the Christian institution – to lose their fire for Jesus, and their congregations to become consumer Christians. A must-read for anyone in a leadership or discipleship role in their church, but especially for pastors. An excellent reminder for us to put Jesus first and the rest will follow.

At lunch Pastor Dale asked me where my feelings were regarding today’s church and I told him, “I am scared.” I worry about the condition of churches today. This book hopefully opens the eyes of pastors and church leaders to take stock of your church and make changes!! Great Read for leaders of any church.

Everyone should read this book and reevaluate what it means to lead. Not only Pastors and leaders, but all those who are disciples for Christ. We need to care for the people and the community we live in. God will do the rest.

An insightful read on how church leaders should care for and lead its members to become Christ followers vs consumer Christians. Well written.
